"There comes a time when every man feels the urge to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and start slitting throats." -- H.L. Mencken
Rants
Welcome back Conginites. As you can see today we are flying under the black flag. Pay no attention to the bodies on the ground, those are just props. I do apologize for the long delay in posts and thanks to Ali for the kick in the ass. This week so far has been a rough one and it is still fucking Wednesday. Actually that is not totally fair. Everything before 8 and after 5 has been pretty decent. I am just not enjoying work this week. I know your not supposed to think of work as Happy Fun Time in La La land, but it sure would be nice. I came up with my ultimate job for me right now today as I was day dreaming about what to do instead of throwing myself off of a cliff. I need a job as the IS manager for a nice little 50 to 100 person Non-For-Profit where I can grow out my hair, grow a beard, where jeans and sneakers in the winter and shorts and flip-flops in the summer, have my own office, and make like 60-65K a year. That, my friends, would be heaven on earth. So if any of you know if such a place exists please forward them my name. Meanwhile I am still here at Inatech being ground through the corporate (albeit small) machine.
Music
On a completely different note it is time for the Band of the Day. Now by the sound of the above section one would think that the band of the day would be Nick Drake or something else dark and depressed. Well, it's not. I have been on a big kick Razor and Tie Records and Bloodshot Records kick. Now I will admit that the alt.country feel of Bloodshot does kinda meander down Depression Road, today's Artist of the Day is Dar Williams! Dar Williams has been wicked big on the New England folk seen since the early 90's. Only now is she beginning to receive a little more national recognition and radio play. Her style is definitely not something that here everyday. He simple acoustic melodies accompanying her high voice and rambling narrative lyrics. Here stories are always very interesting and fun to listen to like "The Pointless, Yet Poignant, Crisis of a Co-Ed" and "The Babysitter's Here". Sprunger I know what you are thinking and, no. For a shitty week at work at least I have something to entertain myself with. Good tunes...
